SANDWICH, MA- Teens Rescued after Being Blown Out to Sea (09-04-10)A 16 year-old female and 16 year-old male teen were swept out to sea and later rescued off of Town Neck Beach in Sandwich, Massachusetts Saturday (09-04-10) afternoon around 12:00 PM according to a Sandwich fire official at the scene an the mother of the 16 year-old female. According to Sarah Potash (the mother of the 16 year-old girl rescued) of Dedham , Massachusetts , her daughter and a 16 year-old male friend were out in surf kayaks, also known as "yak boards", off of Town Neck Beach when winds pushed them out to sea. A Coast Guard inflatable boat responded to the scene and rescued the teens. The teen's and one of their fathers (who attempted to rescue them in another kayak) were brought to shore and examined and released by EMTs. A Sandwich fire official at the scene estimated that winds were blowing at 20 to 25 miles per hour at the time of the water rescue.
